What is the difference then between one with toxic spirituality (example: Fred Phelps) and no spirituality?

If someone's toxic then they're likely not really in tune with anything beyond their own selfish wants. The very idea of being in harmony with one's surroundings by definition I think means you're going to be a non-toxic sort of person.
